Eating Healthy To Stay Alive
Truly, no one wants to die! Not even our most religious folks, or, those who claim to be that Godly! Not even some of our luckiest folks, who, in trudging through the torturous existence of our damnable clime: joblessness; decaying infrastructure; perennial power outage; unavailability of pipe borne water; ancient roads that are positive death traps; an agonising transport system; armed robbery and kidnapping; insecurity bedeviled by the worrisome incidence of spasmodic accidental discharge from trigger-happy security operatives; premeditated fuel scarcity; a wobbling educational system and a wretched primary health care delivery system; So, our truly lucky folks, who have wormed their way over the biblical hurdle of three scores and ten, still continually, look forward to living a good life devoid of health challenges!
So, life, indeed, is for the living! And living well depends largely on what we eat, and importantly too, in what we drink. Even if we eat right, the reoccurring problem of stress which manifests in our daily lives as we aspire to attain successful heights remains, in another breadth, a reoccurring decimal.
The author of the best-selling book: "Opening to Spirit", Ms. CAROLINE SHOLA AREWA, who wrote our PROLOGUE: "COPING WITH STRESS", notes: "When you relax regularly, practice meditation and/or pray daily, you will experience a biochemical and energetic shift in your system. You will find your mind calmer and relaxed; your blood pressure will decrease; your breathing will slow down; your pulse rate slow; your digestion will improve and you will sleep better".
The COVER STORY: "HOW TO PREVENT STROKE", written by EDITOR NATH OMAME, Jr. Emphasises the importance of checking your blood pressure regularly; eating right, essentially rough carbohydrates and non-fatty foods; living well and edging out stress with harmless smiles and boundless burst of laughter as well as regular exercises that are meant to quicken the heart beat.
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, Fr. ANSELM ADODO, OSB, who wrote both articles on: "MANAGING HYPERTENSION and "BITTER LEAF: A WONDER CURE FOR INSOMNIA" states that "we are products of our environment. Our dietary habits are conditioned by our social and cultural upbringing. Those brought up on high calorie diets are likely to develop hypertension" while "high intake of salt can lead to hypertension".
And for those who are so stressful that they cannot sleep, ADODO recommends bitter leaf extract as a panacea for "great calm".
Evidently, this edition is packaged to usher you into a fruitful, productive and rewarding year!
